I got into diving this summer and have almost finished my AOW class. I'm just interested in seeing how much everyone has spent on this great hobby.

For me the grand total is approaching 4,500 and worth every penny.

2 full sets of gear, 2k
2x classes, trips, rentals, 1.5k
getting groped by sea lions, priceless

but seriously, about the same.
Hopefully we're nearing the end of the front-loading cost curve...

Thats not a curve that is the begining of a Vortex.
Spare Gear. $1000.00
Photo: $1200.00
Doubles: $3000.00
Rebreather: $15000.00
Boat: $100,000.00
It never ends.

Have you seen any good prices on Submarines.

No sense in adding it up you can't take it with you!

Trivial costs are like shotgun shells and golf balls. All necessary. Some things are just, well, priceless.....

oh boy you have no idea! practically drained my bank account on gera and travel and half my monthly paycheck goes into diving related activities/

OMG!!!
What measley gear I have left after splitting up with my diving ex is still enormous!!! I don't own alot...but what I do have is still costly if I add it all up.
The relaxation, dive buddies and finding the octos and only having to worry about my gear...
PRICELESS!!!

I just figured this out the other day, went through all my bills for my gear and training and added them up (note to self: do not do this again! :11: )

gear includes everything needed , BCD, Reg., suit, boots, hood, gloves, AL80 with 25Y free air, clips, spares, suit hangers, etc.etc.

Gear ..... $2,429.05

Training ... $916.60

Total .....$3,348.65
(and this does not include cold water gear (happily) purchased for my close friend so she can dive here)
