Sunscape and Secrets get Hyatt

Hyatt Hotels has announced it is going to buy Apple Leisure Group (ALG), including AMResorts. This will include Sunscape, Secrets and Aura on Cozumel. Sunscape has been renovating the Resort for the past year and is currently doing all 90 Suite/Condo units. Sunscape also said they are adding 63 new units. All this to be completed by Dec 15, 2021.

Big question is will all be upgraded to Hyatt standards. Sunscape needed upgrading badly ,hope they upgrade the food toooooooooo!!!! and finally give free in room internet.

Maybe. This seems to be a large acquisition of a lot of properties across multiple countries. Which properties will be upgraded and for that matter which properties will be ultimately be retained by Hyatt is probably a work in progress.

I stayed at a Hyatt in San Jose one time on a business trip. I had high hopes, but it was just an old rundown Holiday Inn with the Hyatt name on it.

There are different levels of Hyatt as there are Marriott. Hyatt needs more locations to compete with Marriott in almost every market especially with people selecting hotels based on existing membership rewards and credit card points.

MY BAD I changed it. Old men get confused sometimes.

Oh no --- Hyatt means the Pritzker Group is managing partner and the ILL governor is J B Pritzker the founder. In case you don't know --- he had 14 toilets removed from his personal Chicago mansion just before the property was reassessed for taxes. Had them reinstalled after tax man left. Saved over 300k in property taxes. This was publicly known 6 months before election day and Chicago Democrats still elected him Gov. No Fraud charges ever brought but public pressure made him pay it back.

Seems like Mexico is a good place to do business for him.
