has scubapro quit on subgear no web sites for subgear to be found ,just send you to scubapro??

Yes, it's gone.

As I recall, the idea with Subgear was to provide a less expensive equipment line that Scubapro dealers could use to compete with on-line retailers. I don't think it worked out that well, and Scubapro has more or less formally embraced on-line sales from what I can tell, so the need for Subgear has more or less dissipated.

That's too bad as I liked some of the products they offered that are not packaged the same way or offered at all by Scubapro.

JOHNSON OUTDOORS, parent company of SCUBAPRO and SUBGEAR, has announced that it is to concentrate on the SCUBAPRO brand.

The move will see the existing SUBGEAR product range rebranded as SCUBAPRO.

A spokesperson for the company said: "[We] have decided to pool all strengths strategically and to concentrate the entire know-how on one brand - SCUBAPRO.

"Almost all SUBGEAR products will survive - just under a new name: SCUBAPRO."

All legal guarantees on SUBGEAR products remain valid and SUBGEAR spare parts will remain available.

For further information, contact an authorised SCUBAPRO dealer or visit www.scubapro.com.

I never understood the marketing angle in the name Subgear, just never struck me right, so I was not overly surprised it was discontinued.

Lots of "brand re-alignment" going on. Aeris was retired recently too. Sign of the times.

I was looking at Subgear wetsuits only to find they didn't have my size so they ordered one in for me. Lo and behold, the same overall design but with a Scubapro logo appeared when it came in.

Same stuff, different name.
