Well its 4am and I'm watching "Disappearance of the PX-15" which is a program on the Science channel about the NASA submarine in 1969 traveling in the gulf stream.

Anyway I heard a very interesting thing and I thought I would share.

They decended to ~1000 feet and used balast to become neutral. After a period of time the sub began a slight decent which stopped after maybe 50 feet, the crew did nothing to cause the decent. What happend?

If you want to spoil it just "highlight" the area between the stars

***************************
The hull of the ship shrank because of the cold, causing the ship to displace less water, thus becoming negative and decend.
