Stylus Tough setup

I have the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 with an Ikelite housing. What is the best settings for diving the reefs in the Keys? So far, I've only used it (with the housing) diving a lake. It looks like the defuser with the housing works better when installed. Should I just stick with one of the two underwater settings? I don't have an external flash, but I'll bring a flashlight (if that helps). Thanks.

Hi Katch...first off I'm far from a Pro, but aspiring in the world of UW Photo.
That being said, I have a Tough 770SW (Same thing just a 7.1 mp rather then 14) and the Olympus housing. I found that the on camera flash and defuser get alot of Backscatter. And you're prob best using those on board settings for UW Photos. Idk how many dives you'll be taking when you're there but maybe use the first dive to play with the settings and see what works.

I am a novice as well. I use to have a OLY 770, but now I have a OLY 8000 tough with a OLY UF1 strobe. Backscatter is always a problem. I have learned a lot on this board about the problem. Someone posted some drawings that depicted how to aim the side arm flash units to help prevent backscatter. It was really a big help in understanding backscatter in general. Before seeing this, I thought you had to aim the flash directly at the object to get a better light and eliminate backscatter. That obvioulsy is not correct. Maybe one of the pros will post that link for you.
