I know this is rather stupid but, I've always stayed at the all-inclusive resorts while traveling.
I finally came up with a trip back to Jamaica over spring break but I will not be staying at an all-inclusive. I will be staying in someone's condo.

Anyway, when I was in Jamaica last January I noticed that there was a sign on the sink in my room that stated the water was not potable (however, they treat the water in the rest of the resort).

My question is: Should I be only consuming bottled water since I will not be staying at a resort?

Generally speaking the water in Jamaica is drinkable out of the tap. When I lived in Jamaica I noticed the pool water and tap water would turn darker when it rained, so would guess the system had it's problems. Different parts of the island have different water systems so I would suggest asking the people at that particular complex what the guest's have been doing.

Thanks! I was thinking about asking the owners of the condo but, I thought of it as like asking the owner of the condo in Mexico if it was ok to drink the water (To him/her, it's "just fine", but for me it would not be).
