A 24-year old woman died during a shore-based training dive off Dubai's Jumeirah beach. This is the second training fatality along this short coast in recent memory. No idea what went wrong and the news report doesn't say. I've trained many students off the beach in that area and it's fairly benign.

It has been speculated that the previous fatality also involved an inappropriate instructor-to-student ratio. Inappropriate in the sense that visibility can be poor, and a student in distress can easily disappear. If this was a DSD, then a 1:4 ratio was sadly ill-advised.
