I have been using a SeaLife 1200 Elite but would like to upgrade to the Canon G15 with Fantasea FG15 housing. I like the video light and would keep it with this set-up but I need strobe ideas.

A couple of issues. One the Fantasea housing is good but has a issue when it comes to wet lenses. It's square port does limit you somewhat in choice of wide-angle lenses, diopters and filters. Ikelite gives you more options. In addition if you are someone who wants to shoot in "automatic/TTL" a Ikelite housing and strobe combination is one of the best. You can move to shooting Full Manual as time progresses.

If you go with the Fantasea than the Sea&Sea YS-01 is a good strobe and also allows TTL shooting. If it is in the budget the the YS-D1 is the best choice. This would apply to Nauticam which is simply one of the best housing made.

As to video lights there is a big range now. If it will be a focus light, night dive light and video light you want to start at 500 lumens. If you want to do video of diver size subjects and larger then you need to be around 1200lumens. As with strobes 2 are always better than one, again if the budget can handle it.

Here are some excellent options. I-Torch and Fix are putting a lot of pressure on Light & Motion with their combination of High Lumens and lower prices.

hi Betty

Since you may be on a budget, I'd go with the YS-01 or YS-02 strobe. They are the same strobe, the YS-01 costs more but it will allow you to do TTL in Av mode for macro.

Hope this helps,
Scott
