I just bought an Olympus 5050 and I will be purchasing the PT-015 housing for it soon. I have seen several strobe unit setups for it on different sites, but I am little confused at the difference between them. I have seen Inon, Epoque and Sea and Sea.

Are there recommended strobe units for this setup? I see manual ones and automatic ones as well. I was just looking for a single strobe unit that a beginner could learn to use. I also want one that I will still be happy with when I get used to using it.

Also, how does one choose between the different mounts (fisheye tray, strobe arms and the like)? Which system is simple and reliable for this purpose?

be careful with the fish eye tray. If you notice, your 5050 has the flash adjustments on the left side of the camera, one of the areas that the fish eye may not let you access. ALso the left hand grip on the PT-015 case kind of angles outward. I spoke to Allan at underwater digital about it and I don't think that the fish eye will fit unless you bent it out a bit. Olympus actually makes a nice looking tray that should fit the PT-015. I had the picture and # here last night. I'll find it and post it later. Good luck with your new equipment. UPS just delivered my new 5050 an hour ago. Can't weight to get started with it. :)

Bacchus is exactly right about the FishEye tray. Unfortunately, the FishEye tray doesn't fit quite well with the PT-015 housing because of some minor changes on the PT-015 like those 2 control button for the EV+- value and Flash on the upper left side of the housing.

Here's the Olympus PBL-01 tray Bacchus was telling ya about. I have a couple in order. I think this tray might actually work with the PT-015.

The linked thread should help with your strobe selection. I'll always recommend the S&S YS90DX

Thanks for the information!
