I am new to underwater photog. I just got a case and strobe for an old Canon A Series that I had lying around the house. My question is should I use a camera strap to keep the camera attached while diving or is that too distracting.

Thanks

I use one of these. I can snap it closed and keep it tight to my body when I'm not taking pictures. I would never take a camera without a lanyard or at least a wrist strap. I wouldn't even use a wrist strap on a camera that I cared about.

I snap the lanyard to one of my bcd d-rings.

That's what I do too. Small variation:I have a coiled lanyard with a bolt snap on both ends-it makes removal (from theBC and/or camera/housing after the dive) a bit easier.
