My wife and I are spending a week diving with Pirates Point on Little Cayman the first week of February '10. On the way back we have to do a stopover somewhere so the plan is to stop on Grand Cayman and do the Stingray City dive.

Our plane doesn't land until 9:30AM so we need a dive op that can accommodate our arrival time. If anyone has any suggestions who we should talk to it would help us a lot. It would be nice to avoid the cruise ship crowd but by that time it may not be possible. We get there on a Saturday if that makes a difference.

A hotel recommendation wouldn't hurt either. I tried to contact ELDEMIRE'S TROPICAL ISLAND INN by email but so far no luck.

I believe that Lobster Pot Divers sometimes have a boat leaving at 11:30 AM. Try them. Otherwise, you would have to pick up an afternoon trip; many dive ops have trips leaving around 1 or 1:30 PM.

Cruise crowds shouldn't be a huge problem. According to PORT AUTHORITY OF THE CAYMAN ISLANDS there are no ships scheduled to be in port on Saturday the 6th and only 1 on Saturday the 13th.

Have fun.

Bill has a great resource link. The port authority listing of when ships will be inport is a must-have for us. Definitely use it to plan your timing for the SRC trip. With just one ship in, you'll be fine.

That is great info, thanks a lot. We are going to be there on the 6th so there are no ships scheduled so far.

What about a hotel? Is Eldemire's worth pursuing or is there a better place?

Since you've contacted Eldemire's, I assume you're looking for something under $200 - which might be difficult during High Season on GC.

Sunset House rents rooms by the night. Expedia has the night you need at $160. They're in South Georgetown. But you'd have to do SRC with someone else as they do it Tue/Fri only.

Another "affordable" option I recently found is a B&B up in West Bay. Shangri-La : Cayman's Luxury Bed & Breakfast
$139-159 during high season.

Most of the diveops will pick you up in the SMB/downtown area. Don't know if they will in West Bay.

www.caymanislands.ky has pretty much everything you need.
