Is there still a place for beavertail wetsuits with twistlock fasteners in modern scuba diving?

I have two of them.
I like them for regular scuba diving, but they are mostly used by commercial urchin divers, at least here in California.
Mine are custom made, both with attached hoods and stainless twist locks for the beaver tail. One is made out of Rubatex G231 neoprene.

I'm a heterosexual male, and I will admit to having enjoyed seeing women wear them in photos as well as on the screen. Unfortunately, this one female diver I know of found beavertail suits to be uncomfortable. Nonetheless, I wish some Hollywood beauty could wear a beavertail wetsuit with twislocks in some feature film in the future.

I wish they would go back to them instead of the traditional farmer john as they are much easier to get on instead of zipping up one thigh as well as being quite restrictive with all of that neoprene on there. That being said, I do enjoy cave diving in just the top of a farmer john since it gives my legs a bit more freedom.

Certified in 79 had one. When I started back a couple years ago I looked for one as was not crazy about the aforementioned step in 2 pc. Bought a 1 pc but miss the ease of the old setup.

Harvey's still makes beaver tail wetsuits but they don't have twist locks, they are velcro. I suppose the suit could be taken to a boat canvas shop and have them installed, or maybe Harvey's has a suggestion. Freedive suits are also beavertail style but the clasp system is different, they are plastic clips, and the tail is narrow so not so good for just wearing the top.

i have a 3/4 inch thick U S Divers wet suit with the beaver tail that i still use for Florida winters..

I just had JMJ Wetsuits make me a 7mm custom hooded beaver tail/farmer john suit with twist locks. I got it with skin inside and scuba dive it in Norcal waters. It's a great suit & is just like the one I had when I started diving 45 yrs ago. I just like twist locks over velcro.

I have three two-piece farmer johns with no-zip pull-over jackets and beaver tails. They have become the norm in freediving circles. Most of these suits come with plastic pin and keyhole style closures. I came up with a double D-ring closure instead of twist locks or pins because they got damaged bellying up on inflatables and kayaks.
