Well I was pretty much set on a custom DUI TLS350 but then my wife and I decided that we are going to build a house. So all things considered i decided it is best if I don't spend $2K+ on a drysuit just yet. However I still want one and was looking at the Whites Nexus. A local dealer just picked up the Whites line and was offering a package deal for $999 that included pretty much everything. However, I have a feeling that their deal isn't really all that great. How much should one expect to pay for a Nexus with Evo boots and a 1-piece undergarment?

That's the first thing to check.

The Nexus is a pretty basic suit; I looked at one when I bought my first a year ago, and went with the BARE Nex-Gen instead.

Then I lost a bunch of weight and the BARE didn't fit any more.

Frankly, if you want better, the Dacor I have for sale on Aquatrader is a better buy - IF IT FITS. Its a much heavier gauge of fabric (harder to damage), has a zipper guard (ditto) and IMHO just better design and features (waist control cord, suspenders, etc)

The problem is, if it doesn't fit right, the best suit in the world will stink and swim like a garbage bag underwater.

The DUIs are nice, but many people have to buy a SP suit to get a good fit. I'm lucky - I fit a stock Large essentially perfectly. Most people don't get so lucky.

the problem i have been running into is that I don't fit a stock size in anyting i have looked at so far. The stock xxl dui fits good in the shoulders and waist but i have short legs and even an xl is pretty long on me. I was interested in the Nexus large-king size which was bigger in the waist and shoulders but not any longer.

Note that taking material OUT of the legs (length) is quite possible. You might consider buying a stock suit and having it modified - that might be cheaper than a custom cut.

What sucks is when you have a measurement that makes the suit too SMALL. That can't be fixed in any economical way UNLESS the legs are too short, and then you might be able to get a longer neoprene sock put on in place of the sock or boot that is already there and deal with it that way.

The White's didn't do anything for me in the "value for the money" department, but that was my evaluation. They're not bad suits, just nothing to write home about. I was not impressed with the bilaminate (rather than trilaminate) fabric, nor the non-swivel inflator. The latter isn't a huge deal, but the former is if you are tough on dive gear - and I am, as I spearfish and dive wrecks, and a ripped suit is a real problem (both in the wallet and in what it does to your temperature ;))

I preferred the BARE in the "economy" category, even though it didn't have the suspenders (White's did) due to the fabric and swivel inflator, although the DACOR that I have (and am selling, as it doesn't fit right) is CLEARLY the best "inexpensive" suit I've EVER seen. All the doo-dads other than front zip are there, and the fabric is bombproof - it appears to be the same six-layer that the DiveRite 905 is made of, which is a quite expensive suit for a back-entry.... in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the same factory overseas somewhere made both of them.

I may have something for you. Give me your email address and measurements and let me see if a brand new DUI TLS 350 I have would fit you.

That's about right for the Nexus deal I guess. Seen it for around $1100-1200 Canuck.

Whites makes a great drysuit IMO. There are obviously better suits than the Nexus in their line though. An Aqua Pro would be a better bet.

I have a nexus and a catalyst. I would definately consider spending a little extra money and get a good trilam suit. My nexus wouldnt last one dive inside a wreck. The catalyst is three times the suit. I also really like DUI and Andy's. Get the best suit you can afford. But at minimum get a good trilam and it should last indefinately.

I have the whites nexus. The price that you were quoted is retail. Check e-bay if you're price sensitive. I think I saw the same package for less.

I agree with the other opinions. the whites nexus is a bare boned suit. I don't know anything about suit material, but the fabric does seem a little flimsy in comparison to the other dry suits that I have seen. This is my first drysuit, so I baby the damn thing.

I have been drooling over the DUI suits - which seems to be the benchmark, but I simply can't afford it. For the price and the conditions that I dive in, the nexus suit made sense for me. The suit seems to keep its value, so I hope to sell it when I'm able upgrade later.

I bought a Whites Nexus package recently from a LDS who made ma a great deal. ($880 for suit, undergarment, socks, inflator, evo boots, bag, wax talc) and I have seen the package on ebay (I believe the seller is dive stuff and he sells em buy it now for $715 to 755). I was surprised by how well the suit fit me, I'm a very tough person to fit and got a XXL, i thought the waist would be huge, but it was pretty comfortable. It is a very warm suit, but I wouldn't count on it holding up too well if you bump into coral or wrecks a lot which you should'nt do anyway.
