St Lawrence VIS

I have been out diving quite a few times this year and I cannot get over how poor the Vis is this year compared to last. The water seems to be loaded with particulate matter and I don't remember it ever being this bad last year! Is it just me or is everyone noticing the same thing?

We've had a lot of rainy days this year, compared to the last few springs/summers. That washes all kinds of crap into the streams/rivers/St. Lawrence. If we can get a week or two without rain, it might clear up somewhat.

the water is also colder than it was this time last year. I doubt it will go over 70 this summer.

Then again, isn't colder water supposed to mean better vis?

I've been noticing a lot of thermal fogs underwater lately as well.

We did the boil at Ivy Lea today... lots of particulate matter. I blamed it on the thunderstorm yesterday. Wild ride of a dive!

Kingston had unbelievable viz earlier this season - had up 80+ on Marsh, etc few weeks ago.

Last w/e it was still clear below the termocline and when it was not raining.
