I'm a Fish!
Wife and are are part of a group that enjoys a 7 night cruise in each January. I am the only diver in the group. So I try to stake out 2 ports for as full a day of diving as I can get in.

This coming January I know I'll dive Dominica (most likely AlDive or maybe NID). With the rest of our schedule - my remaining choices are St Croix or St. Kitts and I have to pick one.

Really - Really prefer small groups and the more bottom time the better. Bringing 1200 pounds of air back to the boat is such a waste.

So...suggestions?

St. Croix has very good wall, reef, wreck, and shore dives. Cane Bay shore diving is quite good and cheap (:D) !! The North Shore and Salt River areas contain the best boat diving sites on the island. Anchor Dive Center is right in Salt River and only 10-15 minutes from most of these sites. Most of the time, their surface intervals are at the dive shop, which is kind of nice. Their staff is excellent and their prices are very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone.

Dear Samboney,

I saw that you are interesting in coming to scuba dive in Dominica in January of 2010 with some other friends. I'm from the island of Dominica and is a certified, PADI trained scuba diver. Diving here is great with visibility of most times is over 90 feet. A few of my favorite sports for scuba diving in Dominica are; Scotts Head Pinnacles, Champagne Reef, La Montaine, Soufriere Drop Off, Rodney Rock, and Grand Savanne off the West Coast Village of Salisbury.

I'm not very often on checking out posts here, but from time to time I visit here to see if there are any one talking about scuba diving in Dominica. So you can contact me if you wish at eddietours2001@yahoo.com

It was great giving you some incites about Diving in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, Dominica, where it is said, one will be able to "Defy the Every Day".

Thanks folks -
Looks like St. Croix 2 and St. Kitts 0. Going to make it tough to decide.

If you do go to STX, try to do the Frederiksted pier if possible. It is shallow (25-35') and possible to stay down for 1.5-2 hours if you are good on air consumption. I have done day and night dives there and it has never disappointed - lots to see.

There are a number of excellent shore dive sites on the island:

For dive operations, I can recommend two:

1) Anchor Dive <http://www.anchordivestcroix.com/>

2) Dive Experience <http://www.divexp.com/>.

I am sure that you will have a good time!

Regards,
Brian
