I'm a Fish!
So we have another group diving the St Clair River on Sunday June 14. The plan is to meet in the parking lot near the river, south of the Blue water bridge for 10am. We are planning on 2 dives.
We will shuttle a few vehicles to our entry location for the first dive and leave a few at this location as it is the planned exit area.

The plan is to enter at the Canatara Park beach. Spend a couple minutes at the Gladstone a shallow wreck in Lake Huron at the west end of the beach before working our way out to the 20-25 ft mark north west of the wreck. The current will be pulling us towards the mouth of the St Clair from the start. Once you get to the 20+ foot mark the goal is to travel west. the current from the park will be to the west and it will shift to the south as you enter the river. If you continue to work toward the west as it shifts you should find deeper water as you enter the river. Once you have moved into the deeper water in the river there are several things that you may see dependent on your path. You may see some sturgeon as they are often spotted in this area. There are some old water intakes that stand about 10 ft off the bottom as well as the wreck of the Fontana. As you move farther down river you should be drifting along the bottom in about 30ft of water or less. As you pass under the Bluewater bridge you will notice a change in the bottom composition toward the Canadian shore. It will change from a clay/rock to having lots of sand. This is the indication you are at the exit area. You may also see the barge as it is just off shore from the planned exit area.
