I've decided to get some spring straps for my Scubapro Twin Jets, as I tend to have a tough time getting my fins on once in the water on a shore dive. I'll probably order a set from www.spring-straps.com since I'm not very handy when it comes to making things myself.
Anyways, to my question.....finally. Once I've installed the spring straps to fit my DUI rockboots, size 11, am I going to have a problem with the fit when I wear them on 2mm boots in the tropics?
Thanks in advance for your help, this board is a great resource for divers.

depends on how much the difference is between your two pieces of footwear. More than likely they will not fit both. Mine don't. They are extremely easy to make Mel. Made mine with help from several peoples help from their posts. Do a search and give it a try. Very important that you use SS springs. I have only found them in 11 in. size. If they need to be smaller, for you they won't, you just cut them down. You don't want them getting overstretched or they are shot. My size 12 Tusa booties fit perfectly but my Henderson 5mm shoes won't work on my Volos but they work great in my XXL Jets.

I don't think those will work on Twin Jets but I could be wrong.

Yeah - careful Mike. The straps you made aren't for Jet fins. (Or Twin Jets, as the case may be.) They're a lot more complex.

I don't think the spring-straps.com use line in them. I don't have any line in my volo's but the springs are perfect length for my warm water 2mm booties that I don't have to worry about it. Boog, your right. The jets will be more difficult to do myself. Might consider buying some. Cornfed, I saw that article posted on TDS. Thanks for the link anyway.

What you need is 2 sets of fins and 2 sets of spring straps. 2 mm booties most probably deserve a different size foot pocket than rock boots, as well as a different length of spring.

Have 3 sets myself, 2 setup for dry diving and 1 for wet diving.

Alternate solution: Wear your rock boots on top of your 2mm booties and the same fins will always fit. I do this sometimes, too.

I am using the Manta Spring Fin Strap with my twin jets and I also have size 11 DUI rock boots. I haven't tried the spring straps with my 7mm booties, but I can do it tonight if it helps. I love the ease of putting on and taking the fins off with the spring straps, especially since most of my entries are beach. They were worth the price.

Let me know if you want me to try them on with my booties.

LowTide: Did you hook the Manta spings right to the abs swivel buckels on the fin or did you take all of it off and use the hole were the pin is? I'd like to try the Mantas on my twin jets but don't want to screw them up so I can't easily change them back. :coke:

You have to take the entire buckle off, the pins just slide out. It is rather simple to remove them. Then the springs go into the holes where the pins where. took me about 5 minutes to do. I actually have never dove with the original straps and buckles. Changing them back would take another 5 minutes of your time.

Ok! Thanks, thats what I thought. :coke:
