my girlfriend has splenomegaly and thalassemia, can you please tell me if she can dive at all?
once when her rbc's (which is normally for her would only be at around 9.0, wherein 12.0 or something would be the normal level)and hemoglobin dropped to 8.0+ due to an infection, which was later on cured via antibiotics, her hematoligist told her not to dive... i just don't know if until she gets well or she was absolutely prohibited to dive...

what do you think?

You'll want to ask that question to her hematologist. I believe that splenomegaly and thalassemia major (not trait) are generaly contraindications to diving. Unsure about the pathophysiological interaction between these conditions and diving. Be sure to have her talks with her specialist. You could also contact D.A.N.
