What an incredible ship with an amazing crew, though with the material they have to work with underneath her, it would not take any amenities to impress a seasoned diver such as myself. That does not stop them from providing them though.
Practically being born in the water and having spent most of my life in and about the sea did not prepare me for such an incredible experience as I found aboard The Spirit of Freedom.
From the extremely knowledgeable captain to the highly experienced and friendly crew, one could not feel more welcome, safe and pampered, IMHO! I believe I gained 10lbs feasting on the incredible meals that were never ending and quite delicious. Not having to bend over to place my fins felt a bit like cheating! Quite a difference from diving down here in South Florida, to say the very least, and not insult my happy home...!
The unlimited supply of dry towels on deck along with strong, hot showers in the very clean and spacious rooms was nearly overwhelming for a simple Florida diver like me.
I have spent a fair amount of time on newer yachts that were not nearly as nice as this vessel. The perfect weather and almost limitless visibility of the GBR were the only reasons I could find that made me want to leave to comforts provided by her and the sun deck!
I took a substantial amount of pictures during the dives, but unfortunately an avalanche of computer issues along with a large backlog of work will prevent me from processing and posting them as quickly as I would like. I certainly did capture some stunning images, reminiscent of diving a gigantic aquarium from a palace! If only you could shoot your dinner out there I would have believed I had died and gone to heaven ...
Such a wonderful country full of friendly folks, along with a truly magnificent reef system, I will certainly be back, quite possibly as an immigrant.
Cheers, mates!
