I will be going on a diving trip to Bali and Flores on the 20th of june for 4 weeks. I will be going to Nusa Lembongan and on a Komodo liveaboard with Wicked diving, and then travel around Flores and see what I can find.

Ahead of this I would like to research what different species one can encounter underwater. The rarer breeds such as mola mola and other highlights of certain areas isn't hard to find. But I was more thinking of an online-version of the books you often find at dive centers. I'm quite an inexperienced diver as a whole and I'm not particularly good at identifying the species I come across, but I really want to remedy this 'cause I think it will make my diving experience even better.

Does anyone have any tips where I can do some research and learn about the marine life in Indonesia, or even better this particular region around Bali/Flores?

That's a really nice website Luko! Great pictures and explanations, this will really help a lot.

Thank you very much!

If you have facebook there are some great groups - I like global divers - especially good site for ID and an idea of whats around different areas , nudibase group , marine flatworms group, and heaps of underwater photography groups in different parts of the world that are helpful and interesting.

Paul Humann & Ned Deloach's id books (the ones typically found in dive centres and liveaboards) are available as an ebook.

I do have a facebook that I never use, but I will definitely revive my account and have a look, thanks!

Cool! Then I could have offline access as well, which would be great :)

I like Diverosa's website.

Some very beautiful pictures! Can't wait to finish work so I can go through all these great suggestions thank you all!
