Guns are packed separately. Each boat has a different way of storing guns in transit. Some work better than others, but all are the "best way" to deal with them on that particular boat.
"Sport" bags work as dive bags, as do rubber-maid style trash cans with a couple small holes melted into bottom as a drain. Depending on how much gear you use you may be able to double duty a few things. i.e. wear BC or plate, carry all other gear you'll need to take on the dive onto the boat in the lobster or goodie bag that clips to your rig during the dive. If using trash cans be sure the boat can handle them, not all can even though they are easy to use in a wide decked working boat. In any case you'll want a small dry bag or case for a change of clothes, wallet, keys, etc.
Remember that if beach diving from your truck you can bring EVERYTHING. There is much less room on the boat. Bring what you need for the dive planned. leave the rest in the truck.
The crew I dive most with brings a full set of spares. Everyone brings a spare mask that fits. the rest of the "spares" are spread out among the group. One brings a spare reg, another a spare BC etc. We can outfit one diver who's gear failed on board complete, but not all out of the same bag.
