What would be the best speargun to buy for use mainly in Texas lakes and rivers?

Consider, you are extremely limited as to what you are allowed to shoot.... carp only. And for the most part its all short range, inside of 15 feet, 20 feet on a really good day. If you are interested in traveling to Ok or Ar, to hunt that will widen your target range a little and may extend your range of visibility. I havn't dove any lakes in either state.

This information will help the decision. Once I make the jump, I'll make three purchases, a pole spear for floundering in shallow water, a salt water gun, probably a biller, and a fresh water gun, something short.

A 42'' to 48'' gun should fit the bill, I do not want to recommend spearguns because of the difference of price. Throw out a couple gun makers and we will throw in our 2 cents.

if you hunt rivers you need to think about a gun with a low profile for tracking against the current. I typically use a small euro style gun or a pole spear for these tasks.
