I have just aquired my dads old scubapro speargun, he is positive he will not be using it, as he has not in about 15 or more years, and while I bring back more pictures than fish from rig trips and such, thought would be nice to have at hand if needed. It is a pnuematic type? speargun, no bands, just a pump thingy. The local SP shop said should be cheap and simple to get back to good as new condition, about 10 or 15 dollars.

I'll try to get some model info and pic out here, but thought I'd drop in and say hi as I will be spending more time in this subforum on SB. Any info, tips, and such that you veteran hunters can offer on using this particular type of gun, and on hunting in general will be gratefully received.

The gun is a mid 70's model scubapro unit with a blue front tube, black plastic handle with metal trigger and safety, and a big metal canister on back end. More info to follow soon.

Thanks for whatever info you can provide
Matt

I have seen this gun once or twice before. The only thing I think I can offer on this is to be sure and rinse the gun really well after every use in saltwater. The ones I have seen were not in working condition anymore due to the amount of corrosion. As far as I know, I don't think the pneumatic guns were made for saltwater. Good luck, and I hope your local SP dealer can help you out.

this gun looks to be in excellent condition, I know dad used it in both fresh and salt, I believe that he specifically purchased it for a salt water trip. He was a stickler on maintaining equipment though, and gun still looks ready to go. We are going to replace the orings and such and give it a shot. I will get picture up soon, and model info as soon as get it to dealers to verify.

More than likely your gun was made in Italy and that means metric "o"rings. Getting the correct sizes can be near impossible.
I think your better off having a pro do it. I have an address around somewhere... I'll dig it up and get it to you.

yer it was probly made in italy get a profeshonal to do it or else ur money will just b fuked away on parts ..... me and my team used 4 guns like thta to pull in a 30 ft tiger shark it took us 3 hours to get it on the boat

here is the pic I promised, not a good pic, but will try to do better later on.

Thanks for the replies.

I looked everywhere for that address and couldn't find it.
Go to spearboard.com and under the "General Speargun Discussion" section ask if anyone knows about a shop that will fix pneumatics. That is where I got the addresses.

Thanks, I have a couple of SP shops in town that say they can get service parts for it, and that they have worked on them. I will go with the shop that let's me watch....

There are a bunch of orings along the back of the shaft, not sure what is inside to service, or just what pump is for, dad said you just push shaft in and it's ready to go... but it only fires underwater, no james bond style shooting of villians approaching across the beach :( ;) :D

All I have ever used in my very limited spearfishing experience is poles while freediving and band types out at rigs. All info appreciated, Thanks again for the replies.
