Spearfishing near Panama City

Im headed to the Panama City area soon, and im looking for good places to do some spear fishing. Particularly from the shore. Im going out with the Wreck Raider, but I need a place my brother can practice first. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, John

If you haven't gone already, sign up on spearfishingplanet.com or spearboard.com and see if any locals are willing to take you out for the cost of gas.. Other than that, your best bet is going with a charter. I've been a few times, and there are certainly shore dives you could go with, but spearfishing from the shore in FL can be hard. You have to be so far out from the shore, and then you need to have floats, a flag, stringer, etc..

If it's worth it to you to spear from the shore, you can take the 2.5 hour detour to Orange Beach, AL...plenty of spearing from the shore around there. But for the cost of gas you'd be pushing the cost of another charter...
