Maybe you can find someone with a flooded or otherwise failed strobe.

What part of it is broken?

the clear front cover; when installed and switched on strobe fires by itself; when i swap cover with my 2nd strobe and switch it on, no problems; so i assume problem lies with sensor in front cover which receives signal from camera; i did find moisture inside front cover ( no idea how it got there so i assume it is damaged.

Good detective work figuring that out!

Sounds like the the photocell in that optical trigger sensor is bad, perhaps moisture damaged. I bet you could replace just the photocell assuming you're up for a little soldering. See if you can take it apart carefully and find an equivalent component.
