My wife and I will be aboard our sailboat in the Exumas for 5 months. We intend to stay away from civilization as much as possible, but will need to find dive shops for air. I'm compiling a list of spare parts to carry aboard. This is what I have so far:

- o-rings
- grease
- batteries (2) for dive computer
- batteries for dive light (dozens)
- bulb for dive light
- zip ties
- bungies
- caribiners (2)
- 1" webbing
- extra weights
- extensive tool kit for the boat
- LP hose 4'
- HP hose 4'

What else would you suggest?

Roger

Unless you're bringing a complete set of appropriate tools and instruments, you'll be limited as to what you can fix with o-rings and grease.

I'd suggest bringing a couple of complete spare regs along with whatever you use for an alternate (air/2, ss-1, octo, etc.).

If something misbehaves, just swap it for the spare.

Same goes for the computers. Bring extras (or small consoles that use the same connector). If your computer unexpectedly needs a battery, chances are the new battery won't really fix the problem. My backup for if/when my SmartCom dies during a trip is a Uwatec mini-spg/depth gauge with the same connector as the smart-com.

In fact, for a 5 month trip, i'd bring at least one complete extra set of everything. Maybe two.

At the very least (in addition):
- Extra mask(s)
- Extra reg/octo
- Extra fin straps
- Extra bottom timer
- Extra knife
- Extra dive buddy (me)

5 months on your sailboat, eh? Must be tough. At first I was thinking, bringing a spare reg could get costly if you don't have one, but then I realized..5 months on your own sailboat...you can afford a couple of spares!

Definitely a spare SPG, fin straps, masks, and don't forget the spare case of champagne. Have a great time, and don't worry about us, we'll be fine slaving away at our meaningless jobs while you're spending 5 months on your sailboat.:D

Trying to think of where to get air fills in the Exumas! I know you can get them in Georgetown to the south but can't think of a lot of other places, maybe Staniel Cay.

Portable compressor... spare everything... good medical kit... satelite emergency beacon... spool of bungie... spool of cave line... duck tape... vet wrap...

off the subject
Hey BKP, I once heard it said... nothing would get done if you were sure about everything...

Everyone else covered most everything. Sea sick meds?
