ScubaPro G250HP MK25 VS. Oceanic Delta III CDX-5? I would like opinions on these two regulators vs. each other or separately. I have an old SP G250HP and think it’s pretty good. Just curious at to what people think of the Oceanic Delta III? Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.

The delta 3 is a classic downstream design with an adjustment knob. That means the user should be able to adjust cracking pressure and keep it right on the edge. A dive buddy has one and loves it. But, theoretically, WOB numbers should be better with the G250 and it's balanced barrel poppet design. Balancing allows a lighter spring to be used as much of the downstream force is held back by the balance mechanism. Only the machine may know for sure.

You will probably find that the oceanic does not give you the high flow rate of the flow through piston. It is very highly recommended in the warmer regions. The hose routing is also nice on the SP. The only downside that I can think of is that the second stage is a little bigger.
The oceanic does breathe pretty well. The nice thing about this reg is that it is environmentally sealed thereby more suitable for coldwater. IT breathes fairly decently and the nice thing about the delta second is that the adjustment range is wide enough that it can trickle a little. Just as it was said above. The only other that does that is maximus.

The MK25/G250 has an over balanced composite/stainless steel piston first stage, where the Oceanic Delta 3 DX-5 has a balanced diaphragm first stage.

SP MK25/G250 - $349.00
Oceanic Delta3 - CDX-5 - $229.00

Not really in the same class. I would add another to the equation, the Apeks ATX50 ($364.00), since you are diving cold water, this would be my recomendation.

I've used both the SP and the Apeks, and the Apeks is the best breather for me.

PS. LP prices.

i think the scubapro G250 is a time proven design and the better qualitty reg of the two, you,ll never have problems getting parts or service for this reg, regardless of location or age of the reg

As far as comparing the Delta and the other two. You will get what you pay for. The delta will not disappoint you if you are financially strapped though.
