Equipment: Olympus SP-350, PT-030 housing, Inon D2000 strobe, 10bar Fiber optic cable for Inon strobe, ultralight tray and arms w/ various accessories ( Yeah I know, if I have to ask how much I cannot afford to be in underwater photography).
Just purchased the strobe and have a couple of questions.

Is the magnet for the strobe supposed to be in or out?

Do I need it and if so where and how do I mount the black piece of plastic that came with the fiber optic cable?"

Do I need a focus light and if so what kind?

Any advice will be helpful. I have been using the camera for a couple of years but just purchased the strobe for a trip to Bonaire at the end of May.

Welcome to the board.

It depends. If you intend to use the S-TTL function on the strobe it needs to be IN, if you not using the S-TTL it needs to be out.....so when to and not to use S-TTL... If your shooting full manual it needs to be out, the strobe will be in manaul mode. If your using aperature mode (A) it needs to be in and the strobe is operating in S-TTL mode.

I would suggest you set up a photo subject and play with the setting until your comfortable with the adjustments. Don't fire the strobe quickly out of the water, give it time to cool between shots.
