Congratulations on getting certified! Welcome to the club. What kind of diving has your interest?

At some destinations, a guide leads divers who choose to follow around on a reef tour; some buddy people up on the boat, and in some cases the group just sort of hangs together without specific buddy assignments (unless divers choose to buddy up). In Key Largo not all op.s provide no extra charge guide service, but Rainbow Reef Dive Center did when I dove with them. Key Largo offers nice, shallow diving (once you get AOW the option of deep wrecks, too). I don't know what time frame you're looking at or how well they're recovered from the hurricanes.

My point is, you don't have to have a dedicated regular dive buddy to travel with or to if you don't want to wait. Up to you.

Richard.

Welcome! feel free to visit us here on the Treasure Coast and South Florida. IMHO, the best diving in the state is between Jupiter and Palm Beach :)

My family and I did our first boat dive after certification over Thanksgiving week with Ocean Divers in Key Largo. We had a guide with us and most everyone stayed together in a group. I wouldn't worry much about a Dive Buddy if I stayed with one of the mentioned operations in Key Largo.
