A man has died while scuba diving on the state’s mid north coast yesterday.

About 2pm on Wednesday 4 December 2019, emergency services were called to Matty’s Flat boat ramp, New Entrance Road, South West Rocks, following reports a man had been pulled unresponsive from the water whilst scuba diving off the coast at Fish Rock.

Dive instructors conducted CPR on the 65-year-old until paramedics arrived, however he died at the scene.

Detectives from Mid North Coast Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

SafeWork NSW were notified and attended the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has been launched.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

Yes, he was a dear friend.

His family have chosen not to share and I respect their decision so won’t take this any further other than to say we miss our diving and friendship with him.

cheers
