Looking to get into scuba with my friend BigFame and wanted to say hello to everyone but especially to dandydon. Is there any advice that I need to know before I begin my classes.

Just know your material, don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something. Also let your instructor know if you have any problems in the pool equalizing. Have a great class!

Welcome to the Board!

what up dude. Thanks for the map today, if you had not given it to me I'd be cruising around Crystal Mountain trying to figure out what went wrong.

Glad you joined the board, you will find the folks here are super friendly, super helpful, and not at all judgmental when you ask what you may think is a stupid question(how else can we lear right?)

Just ask a lot of questions, and I would also suggest you stop in the PNW Orca Bait arena and say hello. Many nice folks there as well.

p.s. Dan from NWSD sent me an e-mail today, and I told im we were full steam ahead. Lets get diving brougham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To answer your question, yes a big one ... HAVE FUN!

The one thing I would recommend before starting classes is to make some time to watch THIS video (scroll down to the bottom of the page). It's long, but it's really useful, and one of the things that often isn't gone over well enough is how to protect your ears.

You guys have picked a good shop, and you'll have a good class. Hope you hit one of our windows of great viz for your OW dives!

Dirka, TSandM ^ has been very helpful to me, she has wonderful info to share. Pay attention when you see her, and for giggles read her dive journal. A hoot for sure. When you get a chance stop by the shop that was filling your paintball tanks and say howdy to Amy there (on here she is PinkPADIGal) she is also awesome.

thanks for the replies and good info, TSandM thank you for the video! one other question I have is that I wear contacts and am I blind with out them, so should I wear them in a mask, glasses in a mask, or do they make lenses for the mask itself. I was a avid paint ball junky and wore my glasses in my mask but they fogged up, but now im typing this out and realizing I might not get a great seal with that avenue so scratch that. but how do contacts work with depth? Is there anything else I should know?

welcome aboard
