‘Shark! Shark! Shark!’: South Carolina man gets bitten on the head, shares attack video

A South Carolina man was spearfishing in the Bahamas over the summer when a shark swam up and bit his head.

Will Krause, of Greenville, wrote on Facebook, “3 months ago (Aug 20, 2018), I survived a shark attack to the head while spearfishing in the Abacos. I was 25 feet below the surface when the 6-7 ft Reef Shark struck the back of my head & neck. I miraculously escaped with several stitches, some gnarly scars, & a viral GoPro video.”

My only thoughts are that Hogfish was pretty small. C'mon man.

I wonder if the color of his hood played into the reason for the attack?

It struck right after a fish was speared; might it have triggered some excitement that contributed? As opposed to a shark just cruising through the ocean 'taste testing' random divers.

In no way am I suggesting anyone or what they were doing was at fault, knocking spearfishing, etc...

Richard.

Maybe, but the viz was pretty clear so the shark certainly saw the diver. The fact it swam past the fish and bit the other guy illustrates how unpredictable they are.

It happened back in August while diving in the Bahamas. Posted online over Thanksgiving. He said all he could remember was the crunching sound of his head the sharks mouth. He suffered some lacerations and a concussion.
