We went back to Cozumel after two year's absence diving elsewhere. It was a great trip with myself, my wife, and my brother, who met us after spending a week at Tulum during Tropical Storm Bill!

We got a nice package through Tres Pelicanos Divers staying in our old haunt Suites Bahia. Jeanie, who had helped us on packages before, made it very easy.

Suites Bahia is in a great location and you get a very nice breakfast at Casa Mexicana. We like staying in town when on Cozumel because of access to restaurants, bars, etc. The hotel as always was squeaky clean and efficient. It is a little louder that before because of the success of the Thirsty Cougar, the bar across the street. Not complaining, we used ear plugs at night until they shut around 11:00, and we drank plenty of cervesa and coffee at the Cougar ourselves. Shout out to Carlos and Liz.

We ate at several old favorites, including Chilango's Taqueria on 30th (best taco on the island IMHO). We had meals, mojitos, and Cuban cigars at Casa de Mojito. Alex is always a great host there. Our new favorite is Casa Cozamil in the old French Quarter building. Great Mayan inspired food and the owner, Anna, stopped by to visit during our several meals there. Great staff as well. Jairo was a fine waiter and just a good guy. He helped us choose Mayan food and made sure we had the coconut ice cream made on site from the family's coconut palms. Really good stuff.

What made the trip really nice, though, was the diving through Tres Pelicanos. Pony, who we knew from previous years, runs a good shop and made everything very easy. They take care of your equipment, including the wetsuits, all week and they taxied us out to the Caleta. Five of the six days we had Jorge for DM. He is an old favorite for us and he treated us to a great week of diving. When my wife and I decided we weren't diving Devil's Throat (just getting a little old for those depths) they sent two divemasters and Jorge took my wife and I on a fantastic private dive at Colombia Deep. All week, we were allowed to dive our computers and our dives ranged from 54 to 90 minutes. Jorge watches you but doesn't hover. He showed us some really neat stuff on our last dive at Cedral that we wouldn't have seen without him.

All in all, a great trip. I would encourage anybody diving Cozumel to at least check out Tres Pelicanos.

Sorry, I meant SHORT trip report. Fumble fingers!

My wife and I ran into Jorge on Cedral back in May. We were diving with Blue Angel on the inside of the ridge that runs along the wall and Jorge was with his group on the wall side. We recognized each other and he came over through a break in the ridge. We shook hands and clapped each other on the back and he gave my wife a big hug. It's the only time I saw him on that trip.

Sounds like a good trip!

I think the lime soup at Casa Cuzamil was my second favorite thing I ate the whole trip. (Empanadas at Argentina del Sur, as super quick walk from Suites Bahia, won.)

We thought Suites Bahia and Tres Pelicanos was an awesome combination. The hotel is so convenient to the dive shop.

thanks for sharing your trip. The secret of Tres Pelicanos is out for sure.
