Well my son did his navigation dive Sunday to complete his Jr AOW.
He is 13 and has been diving since he was 10.
Before we agreed on him doing AOW he had to meet some of my (DAD) requirements.
He has 50 dives in his log, and can hover vertically, swim horizontal while maintaining neutral. He maintains contact with his buddy and can communicate under water.
He no longer bicycle kicks or swims with his hands.
Also, as with all of our family, he periodically goes through skills refreshers either in the pool or at the beginning or end of a dive.
If only I could get him to stop taking his mask off to rub his eyes when they itch.
