I just picked up a Reaf Master at the end of last year and played around with it a little. Unfortunately no strobe yet so alot of the pictures did not come out very well (too much back scatter). I hope that I can start gettig pictures as nice as those!
 
You can get some pretty good memories with a point 'n shoot.. the same three basics apply - get low, get close, shoot up. I'd also say that compared to the cost of the dives, especially to a remote location, film's cheap - so use lots of it!
