I am planning a solo trip to the Caribbean - maybe Bonaire or Curacao, but open to other ideas. My plan was to do my Advanced Open Water, and then daily boat dives and hopefully meet people there to do some extra shore diving for the last 4 days (after my AOW course).

Is Bonaire bad for solo travelers? Would Curacao be a better option? Any recommendations on dive resorts that are more suited to solo travelers in either location?

I have read that the reefs aren’t great in Curacao given the ongoing bleaching, although Bonaire seems to be holding up a bit better outside of where SCLTD is rampant. Is this true, or is the impact similar in both? I have been to Bonaire before and the diving was great - 2023. Curacao snorkeling in 2018 was awesome too.

Note - I have about 100 dives under my belt, just never did AOW. I’m now planning a live aboard which requires it.
