I am heading to Socorro on Monday 11/25/19. I use the sites Windfinder and Windy for weather and wave information. It looks like we will have 6-8ft seas from the West and/or Northwest for most of the 9 night trip and breezy/windy at times. I am not worried about sea sickness (ok, maybe a little) but wondering about diving and logistics in rough seas.

For those who have been to Socorro -

1. Are the conditions above "typical" for Socorro this time of year?

2. San Benedicto and Socorro appear to have sheltered locations but Roca Partida does not. Are there sea conditions that prevent diving Roca Partida?

3. Any other advice?

The seas did get rough when we went to Socorro, but the crew had a great protocol for boarding and leaving the pangas (inflatables). If I recall correctly Roca Partida was the roughest, but no indication from any of the crew that it would cause a problem for diving. Why don't you contact your boat owner/representative and ask . If you are at all prone to seasickness you may want to prepare as the crossing can be rough.

@dlofting Thanks. I was on the same boat last year for a week in the Sea of Cortez and did ask the crew about the conditions out at Socorro. Now that the weather forecast for my trip is in view I thought I would ask if anyone has experienced similar conditions.
