Never been there. Should I go with a travel agent or plan it ourselves. We intend on going to multiple cities and seeing the sights. We would also like to do a dive but have no idea about the Mediterranean conditions or sights

Sabanist, how are you at planning? I can't plan for squat!!! One of the reasons I love and married my wife. She will work on a trip for months, dig out the best stuff to do and organize it in a folder with spreadsheets and tabs for different activities. The best part about her is that if things don't pan out, she has a back up plan. If that goes to hell too, she has done enough research to wing it. So unless you have have your anal retentive, OCD love of your life doing your research for you, I'd say go with an agent.
Disclaimer: The affore mentioned anal retentive, OCD love of my life knows that I call her that and has no problem with it. Any offers to her for moral support escape plans or a safe place to stay will be dismissed by her with a chuckle. Besides, if she wanted to leave me she would have it planned out in great detail... Trust me
