From bookface. Emergency personnel worked on the diver for over an hour and they still perished.

A person has died following a reported diving incident off the coast of Long Beach on Friday morning, authorities said.

Long Beach Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard units responded shortly after 10 a.m. to a medical emergency aboard a vessel approximately three miles southeast of the Long Beach breakwater, near Alamitos Bay.

When fire department crews arrived on the scene, Coast Guard personnel were performing CPR on the patient.

“The patient was transported towards shore via LBFD rescue boat,” a fire department spokesperson told KTLA 5 News. “The patient did not respond to the medical treatment and was pronounced (dead) enroute.”

The dive boat eventually returned to Long Beach Harbor. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

I did not know Barry but saw this post from his wife on FaceBook and am posting here to pass on the info:

Linda Orr Moore is with Barry Moore.

(posted July 5 @ 9:59PM)

I’m sorry if I wasn’t able to contact you personally, but I have some awful news. Yesterday, July 4th, Barry was doing what he loves most. Diving! Something happened under water that resulted in his death. The accident is being investigated by the coroners office in hopes we can get some answers. Barry was 69 years young, had been retired for 10 years and was so looking forward to our first grand child due in September and our dream European Vacation in the fall. We’re missing a lot of information and we may never know exactly what happened. What I do know is that I’ve lost the love of my life, my best friend, my adventure buddy, Connors Dad! We are heartbroken. But Barry loved diving, he loved his family, he loved the Lord. We had a great run of over 42 years and we are truly blessed. Keep us in your prayers. Say I love you everyday!
