My Wife and I are novices and we're going to be in Sorrento for a few days.We were wondering if anyone knew of a location or two that we could try while we're there.Heard that the Isle of Capri has some nice areas but no idea how to get there.
thanks in advance

If you are going to stay in Sorrento you can get to Capri by ferry directly from the port of Sorrento. There are several companies running regular trips to and from Capri and Ischia; here it is a short list of them:

CAREMAR (http://www.caremar.it. Italian only)
ALINAURO (Alilauro - aliscafi, Collegamenti Marittimi - Golfo di Napoli, Ischia, Isole Eolie, Isole Pontine. Click on the UK flag for English)
SNAV (Snav - Navi e Traghetti veloci Sardegna, Corsica, Sicilia, Croazia, Eolie, Pontine, Grecia, Capri, Ischia e Procida. Choose your language from the top-right menu)
NAVIGAZIONE LIBERA (: : : Navigazione Libera del Golfo S.r.l. : : : nuovi Collegamenti TERRACINA PONZA. Italian only)

The trip takes about 20 minutes, but it depends on the type of ferry. There are 2 kind of boats: fast and standard.

A single ticket is about 14 USD.

Keep in mind that the island of Capri is a VIP touristic attraction (in summer it is not uncommon to meet there Hollywood stars like George Clooney, Tom Cruise and many others). Be prepared to pay quite a lot for food and drinks. An espresso could cost you even 10-12 USD.

Capri is a great dive site. Do not miss the Blue grotto (Italian: grotta azzurra) and stacks (Italian: faraglioni)

At Capri Tourism

and

you can find more details.

Enjoy your holidays !
