I wanted to try to improve my snoot techniques after a mediocre first time so Merry and I ventured out this morning despite the dense fog. It didn't clear until we were back in the marina. I'm glad we have a good RADAR as well as a shiny anchor that we can see in poor visibility.

We dived at the Hermosa Beach Artificial Reef which is known for its resident Giant Sea Bass and Broomtail groupers. It's not known for its macro opportunities but I gave it a shot. While Merry watched a few GSBs swim by I had my eyes trained on anything small I could find. Other then gorgonians there isn't a lot to see there.

I had better luck pointing my lights today. Once the visibility improves I will try the snoots on more exciting subjects. We had eight to ten feet vis at Hermosa.

Neat photos. How wide is the coverage you're actually getting with the snoots? Like 3-6 inches across, or bigger?

Love this!!!!!!

About two inches. For smaller subjects I turn the strobe down and move the tips in closer.

Dang. No wonder you were having trouble placing the light. That requires some crazy accuracy. Are you still getting used to them a month later, or have you figured it out?
