I'm a Fish!
I've not seen alot of housings. The most that's i've seen have been my simple snapshot camera housings. I'm thinking of upgrading to a digital slr as I can't find lenses or anything for my 35mm. And I was thinking of using the camera on dives. I have a Canon S2 IS and found one housing and can see using all the functions of the camera.

Now to shorten the wind up a bit. Slr have manual zoom and most have automatic focus or you can turn off the focus. When diving with a housing do you just have the camera set at a wide angle and not adjust the camera or can you adjust it while diving?

This is an Ikelite housing for your camera and it says all functions are accessible. I have a Rebel XT in an Ike housing. I think most housings allow you to zoom.

This is a housing for an S1 from Canon, I'm not sure if they make one for an S2... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...759&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

This is a great thread for more information... http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=156914

It depends on which housing, which port and which lens. My Subal ports do not allow manual focus. Haven't missed it. Some Ike ports allow manual focus options.

Zoom is acheived by zoom rings that allow access through the housing - the ring goes on the lens, there's a gear inside and a knob outside the housing. I have several zooms and can use the whole range.

With slr cameras you must choose which lens you use for the duration of the dive, unlike many compacts that allow you to shoot super macro through WA in a single dive with the addition of add on wet mate lenses.

You can have a look in the Pink Link in my signature below for some more information on lenses and dslr etc...
