According to wind guru.com (my trusted source) we might have a slight one day norte Tuesday night which may affect Wednesday departures, but I don't expect a full port closure—but who knows. Actually that is my favorite phrase in Spanish "quien sabe" which applies to much of life.

What exactly makes up a norte? Wind only? Wind plus storm?

I am coming down for the race and swim is my strong suit, so I'd prefer it not be canceled if a norte comes in. But as you say quien sabe, and also es la vida! Not much I can do about the weather :)

The biggest issue is the wind direction, not necessarily the strength. Tuesday night looks like a wind change to the north at about 10-12 knots (by wind guru.com). If that was coming from the east it would be no issue, but it is best to remember that wind direction (in Cozumel) is much more important than strength. My guess is that it will be rough to load boats on Wednesday morning but no port closure. Quien Sabe

My guess was right.

What a beautiful day on land. Dry, moderate temps, and light wind on shore. The channel looks pretty ugly though and I bet many on the ferries have lost their lunch. Wind should shift to the east tonight and make loading boats easier tomorrow.
