My wife and I booked a trip to Sipadan in December and will stay with Broneo Divers. Included in our package are daily sunset dives at 6pm or so. For people who had been there before and had done these sunset dives, is there enough light in these "sunset" dives, or is it dark enough that we need a primary light? My wife and I had never done night diving before so all we have are small LED backup lights. If we may need strong lights I want to buy them here before we go. Thanks!

You will want bigger lights.
The sunset dives are to see the mating mandarin fish and the switchover between day and night critters. It is early to get you back in time for dinner. Otherwise, you would have to be fed separately from everyone else. It will be dark by the time you finish. Also, the diving will not be on Sipidan as travel that far is not allowed after dark for security reasons. It will likely be around Mabul Island.
You will absolutely love those dives. Easy dive conditions with lots to see. A perfect first batch of night dives. ENJOY!

Thanks for the advice! This gives me an excuse to try out my DIY skills with a primary dive light :D
