Sinking in the Midwest

Hello everyone, I am an OW-certified landlubber in the Kansas City area not attached to a club or store, and have a hard time making acquaintances, so my bubbles have been pretty limited. I only have 9 dives after certification in March 2023 and want to start in it! Going to Hawaii in October for the first time, and would appreciate some Tipps, encouragement, or even constructive criticism.
