I had pretty much given up on the online dating/matching route, but decided to give eHarmony a go just for kicks. I went through their lengthy profile and played by the rules, answering the questions as honestly as I could, even though I felt some of them were irrelevent.
Anyway, I said all that to say this. EHARMONY WILL SEND YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS TO SPAMMERS! I know this for a fact because to take the questionaire/profile, you have to first register. I used a brand-new Web e-mail address that I had never given to anyone, online or otherwise. Right after I waisted my time with eHarmony, I started getting all kinds of SPAM at my new Web mail address. This particular spammer is hard to block because they use a slightly different address each time. So far I've had 7 spam messages, all from *@*.shankscape.com. 2 examples:
wjvqmpqb@colonganh.shankscape.com
jjwjdvcdk@gegelktlz.shankscape.com
Even though I use a secondary Web based e-mail (I NEVER give my primary one out, except to trusted friends and family) for such purposes as registering for various Web sites, I still resent the spam. I had a Hotmail and Yahoo address for years and recently had to drop both because the spam became too much.
Oh, btw, Happy New Year!
