"The administrator has disabled the list of members."

Does this mean we can expect lots and lots of spam because the new owner (Pete) has sold the members list?

Homie won't sell no member list... and he won't let anyone get to it from inside our forum either.

But that's OK... the board almost folded and I have made sure it would stay around. I don't expect any gratitude from those who don't understand that. Feel free to criticise me and accuse me of whatever you want. It doesn't change the truth, and the truth is in the TOS for those so inclined to read it. I can take the heat... even mis-informed heat.

Its never been enabled as long as I can remember.

When I joined in January 2001, there was less than 2000 members. The member list was enabled and one could actually go in and see who,and when someone had joined. It was a big deal then when the board broke 2000, then 3000 members. Since the board has grown so large with 20,000 plus members, I think we all understand how valuable the member list is and everyone should know that Pete will do everything in his power to protect every name on that list. :palmtree: Bob

It was nice in the early days...the days when there was only 100 of us, but this has been turned off a very long time. If it keeps spam off my email list THANK YOU PETE.

Hmm, I belong to another forum that has 12,000+ members and the members list is avilable to any member who is logged in. There is no spam issue, since they also use the same forum software, the e-mail address is not shown easily. Having the list available allows a member to look for the correct John Doe to either PM or e-mail or to find their web site. This way I have to find a post of John Doe's and then PM or e-mail them. NOT friendly this way.

I've never had any spam issues... and I definately appreciate Pete stepping in to save the site.

Not only that but he's answered many questions for me in the past.

Thanks Pete for keeping scubaboard the way it should be.... spam free :D
