I've got a new C8 and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts about the advisability of some simple changes. I've searched a bit here and on google but not found this information.

  • 4500 mAh NiMH batteries instead of alkaline (own these already)
  • replacing one of the bulbs with the 20W bulb from the C8R
    • does this require use of the different reflector assembly from the C8R as well, or can the existing reflector handle the heat (underwater)?
Brief searching made me think the LED version of this light is actually lower output than the C8R, maybe even lower than the C8/alkaline. Does anyone know of a better DIY LED modification for this light?

a)As long as you stay with-in voltage limits, increasing mAh doesn't matter to the light (though you get a longer burn per charge). If this a series of 1.5v cells, to the light it's no different then 1.5v alkaline.
b)dunno
