Bumping this.

Were interested in keeping one of our old cell phones (an HTC that works internationally) and buying a SIM card for it on Bonaire for emergency use. Any input would be appreciated.

I have no experience with Chippy. DigiCell works fine. Only problem is the card expires, even if there is money still left on it, and you start all over again the next visit. Better solution might be one of the international SIM cards that works in Bonaire; costs a bit more per call, but Hey! it's for emergency sue only, right? Many of the intern'l cards do NOT expire.

Thanks tursiops. We're just starting to think of this and you might have a good solution.

In the past we've used this HTC phone on Bonaire with our international verizon plan. The hope is that we can upgrade to a new phone for our regular use, and then use this one simply for a phone to carry in a dry box diving for 911 use if we need it. That way, if the phone gets flooded it is not that big of a loss.

Of course, with me the phone has more chance of getting ruined in the washing machine...!
