Are all silicon lubes O2 compatible? I have a small amount I keep (think its called aqua lube or something like that) for orings on my lights and such. If I were to use a small amount on the threads of a hose going into my 1st stage would that contaiminate it. The first stage is a MK25.

I am not lube happy just want to make sure I keep my NItrox (below 40%)
compatability with the reg.

Thanks

No, there is specific lube for higher O2 use - most common is Christo-lube.

As you might remember from your nitrox course, special procedures aren't required (as a rule amongst the scuba industry) for use with nitrox below 40%, so - by the book - your regulator would be compatible for 'recreational' nitrox with any lube.

That said, the differentiation +/- 40% is a debatable issue. Many nitrox divers would opt for using an O2 compatible lube (and O2 compatible o-rings) as standard in their regulators when diving nitrox mixes, even below 40%.

For compatibility beyond 40%, you would need more than just O2 'safe' lube and o-rings... your regulator would need to be 'O2 clean' as well... and kept that way.

Thanks DevonDive, I have heard of cristo lube and have seen tribolube I will just get a small tube of that. Even though under 40% is ok I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Thanks
